Hari joined King Abdullah University of Science and Technology as a Research Scientist to work with Prof. Ibrahim Hoteit in February 2015. Over the years, his work has been centered on understanding extreme weather events in the region, and their predictability using high-resolution numerical models, along with their teleconnections to ENSO (El Niño-Southern Oscillation), IOD (Indian Ocean Dipole), and more. Additionally, his recent research activities encompass investigating the impact of lakes on urban climate in the Riyadh area through the application of an urban-scale Large Eddy Simulation (LES) model, and examining dust variability in the AP region and the associated mechanisms.
Further, he is working on the development and validation of an integrated, data-driven atmospheric modeling system, which has far-reaching implications in the field of meteorology and climate science. This research effort has yielded significant outcomes, including the creation of invaluable datasets and insights that play a pivotal role in comprehending the climatology and circulation patterns of the Arabian Peninsula, with a special focus on the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
