On April 19, the CLIMATics group took part in activities at The KAUST School (TKS), engaging Grade 11 students in the High School Science Department’s Collaborative Science Project, Mission Eco-Rescue. The initiative challenged students to respond to a simulated oil spill affecting a coastal ecosystem by designing and testing practical response strategies.
During the session, Prof. Ibrahim Hoteit drew on real oil spill cases and demonstrated how CLIMATics applies satellite data for early detection, tracking, and forecasting spill movement.
The engagement brought current research into the classroom, offering students a clearer understanding of how environmental challenges are addressed in practice.
