Aramco Research Program

This initiative funded by Aramco focuses on establishing a unified operational ocean modeling framework for the Arabian Seas by integrating existing Red Sea and Arabian Gulf systems into a single, seamless domain covering the waters surrounding the Arabian Peninsula. The effort centers on harmonizing model configurations, data assimilation schemes, and forecasting capabilities to ensure consistency, efficiency, and improved predictive skill across the region. The project will rely on high-resolution modeling and advanced data assimilation to support applications such as environmental monitoring, oil-spill forecasting, maritime safety, and offshore operations. Ultimately, it aims to deliver a robust, integrated forecasting system that strengthens decision-making and operational readiness for stakeholders, including Saudi Aramco, while building on KAUST’s established operational infrastructure.
