Developing Operational Nuclear, Sediment and Object Drift Models for the Arabian Seas

Duration
Jan 2025 – Jul 2027
Total Budget
$525K

Aramco Research Program

This Aramco-funded project will develop a suite of operational drift models for the Arabian Seas to track the movement and dispersion of nuclear contaminants, sediments, and floating objects under realistic ocean and atmospheric conditions. It will combine hydrodynamic forcing with material-specific behavior to improve the accuracy of trajectory predictions across a range of scenarios. The system will support time-critical applications, including emergency response to hazardous releases, marine pollution tracking, search and rescue operations, and navigation safety. It will provide timely and reliable forecasts of material transport, strengthening situational awareness and enabling more effective response planning in complex marine environments.
