Aramco Research Program

This effort in collaboration with Aramco aims to establish an operational ocean biogeochemistry modeling system for the Arabian Seas, complementing existing physical forecasting capabilities with a detailed representation of biogeochemical processes. It focuses on incorporating ecosystem dynamics, nutrient cycling, and carbon fluxes within a unified modeling and data assimilation framework to better capture marine environmental variability. The system will use high-resolution simulations and observational inputs to support applications such as water quality assessment, harmful algal bloom monitoring, marine pollution forecasting, and ecosystem health evaluation. Over time, it can be expanded to support fisheries management and broader marine resource planning. Ultimately, it is intended to provide a reliable, data-informed capability that strengthens environmental decision-making across the region.
